Visiting the School Wind Band and Signing the Agreement on Academic Cooperation and Exchange : This is one small step for international education, one giant leap for Chi-Jen

On September 15th, 2010, Yong-PengHigh School was invited to visit Chi-Jen and signed the Agreement on Academic Cooperation and Exchange. Eric Hung, the principal of Chi-JenHigh School indicates that with the social development in Taiwan, the structure of family forming has changed. One third of the total population living in TaipeiCity and NewTaipeiCity and the amount of foreign spouses are also increasing. Accordingly, how to broaden students’ horizon is obviously important. Therefore, to help our students to be more creative, learn autonomously and live a more colorful life, since 1998, we have signed the Agreement on Academic Cooperation and Exchange with T he Experimental High School Attached to BeijingNormalUniversity, InternationalCollege and Yong-PengHigh School in succession. Thus, Students in Chi-Jen are closer to the world outside the classroom and Taiwan.

To help our students understand Malaysian culture better, the Office of Academic Affairs hosted the “Exhibitions of Malaysian Cultures” during Yong-Peng’s stay. Additionally, social studies teachers also designed posters to introduce the location, cultures and features of Malaysia. Meanwhile, the Tourism Bureau of Malaysia offered varieties of exhibits and items to the display. There were audio tours for students and they were asked to finish the worksheets after visiting.
